Twenty six words put K first and A third, and no opening letter takes more than a quarter of them.
R takes the second box in six words, H and N in five each and Y in four. I, O and A share what is left. With twenty six words spread that widely, the second box is a weak place to aim.
KNAVE, KOALA, KHAKI and KRAUT are the entries most people carry. KNACK and KRAIT are reachable at a push.
Everything else here is specialised. KAAMA, KIAAT, KYACK, KRANG and KVASS are all valid but none would occur to you during a puzzle, so the page plays much smaller than twenty six.
N takes the second box in five words and every one of them opens with a K nobody pronounces. KNACK, KNAPS, KNARL, KNARS and KNAVE are the whole set, and that silent K is exactly why players forget to try them.
S closes nine of the twenty six, thirty five percent, well ahead of T on four. N leads the fourth box on six words.
Four words repeat a letter, so a visible double narrows the page usefully on the rare occasion one shows up.
KOALA uses more common letters and tests O in the second box. KNAVE covers the silent K branch, which is the larger of the two.
A venomous snake. It sits in the R branch with KRAAL, KRAFT and KRAUT, and it is the one there people most often miss.
