Thirty eight words put R first and N third, and only vowels and a single Y open the second box.
A takes the second box in eleven of the thirty eight, E in ten, U in eight, I in five and O in three. The spread is too even for a guess there to settle much.
RANGE, RANCH, RANDY and RANKS carry the A branch. RENEW, RENTS and RENAL carry E. Between them that is twenty one of the page, and both branches hold ordinary words.
The trouble is the endings. RANDS and RANTS differ in one box, as do RINDS and RINGS, and RENDS and RENTS. Every branch takes the same handful of tails.
RINSE, RUNES and RONDO are the useful entries from the smaller branches. RINSE in particular is common and shares almost nothing with the RAN and REN shapes, which makes it a good splitter.
S closes thirteen of the thirty eight, thirty four percent, with E on seven and Y on six. D leads the fourth box on eight words, and only three words repeat a letter.
RANGE tests the largest branch and RINSE tests a different vowel and a different ending. Either works, though RINSE tells you more when it misses.
A form of linked Japanese verse. It sits in the E branch and is one of the entries you would never guess.
The RAN stem takes D and T equally, and both then take S. That doubling of endings runs through every branch on this page.
