Just three words put B second and Y third, which makes this one of the smallest groups on the list.
ABYSS is the one in common use. ABYSM is an older word for the same thing, and ABYES is a form of the verb abye, meaning to pay a penalty.
Each of these three puts Y at position three doing the work of a vowel, with A in front of it as the only ordinary vowel in the word.
So if you have ruled out the usual vowels for the third box, Y is worth trying. It is the letter players forget to test.
They mean much the same thing. ABYSM is the older form and turns up mainly in poetry, while ABYSS is the one in current use.
It is a form of the verb abye, to suffer or pay a penalty for something. It is archaic and rare outside older texts.
One of the three does. ABYSS ends in a double S, which is what separates it from ABYSM in the last box.
